The Cubro bypass for 100 Gbit multimode links is realized with a MEMS optical switch on which 16 switches are uses per link, these 16 switches are combined in one module.
The switching mechanism offers the reliability of a solid state device. This optical switch is a latched version, this means it only needs power during switching. Even when the power fails the optical switch stays in the programmed state.
